Louise Cutsinger, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
She was born on August 20, 1937, in Tuscola, Illinois, and spent much of her childhood there with her beloved grandparents. At age 16, Louise moved to Hammond, Indiana, where she graduated from Hammond Tech in 1955. Even though she didn’t graduate from Tuscola Community High School, she was considered an honorary member of the 1955 graduating class and attended many of their class reunions over the years.
On January 7, 1956, Louise married her first husband, Lee Cline. Together they welcomed their son, Roger, in 1957. After Lee's untimely passing in 1963, Louise faced life with courage and grace, giving birth to their daughter, Laura, in 1964. In 1969, she married her second husband, Herb Cutsinger, with whom she shared many happy years.
Louise was a long-time resident of Highland, Indiana, and a proud, faithful member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hessville. She was deeply involved in church life, participating in Women’s Circles, Sunday School classes, and teaching at Vacation Bible School. Louise cherished the many friendships she made over the decades spent at Covenant. Due to the closing of Covenant Presbyterian Church a few years ago, Louise was now an honored member of First Church in Lansing, IL. She moved to First Church along with other members of Covenant.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Louise was active in her children’s lives—from being a Cub Scout troop leader during Roger’s elementary school years to sewing countless dance costumes for Laura’s recitals. A talented seamstress, Louise entered her sewing projects in the Lake County Fair every summer for many years and won numerous ribbons for her craftsmanship.
For many years, Louise was affectionately known as the “Circus Lady” for her devoted work with the Orak Shrine Circus at the Hammond Civic Center during Thanksgiving week. From September through early December, she managed the Orak Shrine Circus Office with care and enthusiasm, often working side by side with her dear friend Shellene. Her warmth, dedication, and joyful spirit made her a beloved fixture in the community and a treasured part of the circus tradition.
Louise also cherished her friendships. She was a founding member of the Gordon Drive Bunco Club, where she and a close-knit group of friends gathered monthly for nearly 50 years.
Above all, Louise was a woman of deep love—devoted to her family, her friends, and her faith. She was a treasured mother to Laura (Mario) Gomez and a proud grandmother to Shannon Cline (daughter of Roger & June), Gabrielle Gomez (fiancé Joel Henderson), and Alexandra Bonta (Brandon).
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lee Cline and Herb Cutsinger; her beloved son, Roger Cline; and her parents, Vera K. Ramsey and Claude Ramsey.
Louise will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
