Loydd Alan Hayes passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to family, hard work, and steady strength. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Alan Hayes; his father, Alan Hayes; his mother, Mary Louise Hayes (née Greer); his brother, John Lawrence Hayes.
Loydd is survived by his loving wife of more than fifty years, Cheryl Hayes (née Pickett). Together they built a life centered on family and steadfast support for one another. He is also survived by his daughter, Jenna Fodemski (née Hayes) and her husband, Jarrod; his two grandchildren Arlington and Mallory Fodemski; his brother, Brant Hayes; and his nephew, Shawn Hayes.
Nothing brought Loydd greater joy than his grandchildren, Arlington and Mallory, who were truly the light of his life. He cherished the time he spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow. He loved fast cars, playing pinball, and a cold beer on a warm day.
Loydd graduated from Purdue University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Technology. His education reflected his appreciation for thoughtful design and practical craftsmanship—qualities that were evident throughout his life. He joined the Phi Kappa Theta (PKT) fraternity’s Gamma Omega chapter, in the fall of 1969. After graduation he was a proud member of the Lake Ridge Alumni Association of PKT Inc. For many years.
Those who knew Loydd will remember his steady presence, his devotion to family, and the kindness he showed to those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and in the family who loved him dearly.
Lord, You are the God of the living, and I believe You hold my life beyond death. When I feel afraid, You remind me that I am Your child, made for eternity. Sing with me when I cannot find the words to pray. Let Your melody of hope rise in my heart today. Lord, let me rest in Your promise of resurrection and joy.
