Lucille (Lucie) Rueth

Lucille (Lucie) Rueth passed away quietly in her home, at 65 years young. 

Lucie is survived by her siblings Mary (Glenn) Rueth Taylor, Jerome (Sarah) Rueth, Harold G. Rueth, Jr., Nancy Rueth, and Claudia Rueth Zemaitis. many loving nieces, and by her seven grand nieces and nephews. Her father and mother, Harold and Lucille Rueth predeceased Lucie. She was also dedicated to her circle of friends from her grade school, OLPH, BNI High School, and from her neighborhoods.

Lucie had a wonderful and giving heart. She did so much for so many, often prioritizing them over her own needs. In taking this path, she followed in the footsteps of her parents who lived firmly and intently within the beliefs of the Catholic Church. She lent her giving heart to her work, early on serving as a "house mom" for Downs Syndrome adults, then helping to care for her aging parents and also working in adult respite care.

Lucie had a great sense of fun. She loved organizing gatherings of her friends, often mini-reunions that brought old acquaintances  together. Fun was also found in her crafts that, among other ventures, expressed itself in artistically decorated birthday cakes for her young nieces. Equally, it was seen in Halloween celebrations. Each Halloween her home was the neighborhood centerpiece of decorations and treats.

Importantly, when you remember Lucie, remember her favorite motto: "Morning is God's way of whispering one more time: Make a difference, Touch a heart, Encourage a mind, Inspire a soul, Enjoy the day."

Graveside Service will be held April 10, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery, located at 1413 169th St, Hammond, IN 46324 at 11:00 am. Per Lucie's request, a party in her honor will be celebrated at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Humane Society.
