Marguerite E. (Lant) Montgomery

Marguerite E. ( Lant) Montgomery ages 86, of Schererville, In, passed away Monday September 26,2022. She is survived by her Husband, Robert (Bob), 3 Children Mike Montgomery, Lynn (Stephan)Mika and John Montgomery, 7 Grand Children David Montgomery, Erin Abby, Brittany Groat, Bryan Mika, Kyle Montgomery, Drew Montgomery, Adam Montgomery, 2 Great Grand children: Claire Addison Montgomery, and Harper Mae Groat and several nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Marguerite was pretty much a stay at home mom until the children were in high school. She was President of the Highland chapter of the General Federation Of Women’s Clubs spending many hours with them to get through many projects and programs. She spent many hours helping the Highland Republican party achieve its goals. She served as President of the Highland Republican Central Committee for about six or seven years.

Marguerite retired from Lake County Board of Voter Registration after about 20 years of service rising to the level of Floor Supervisor.

She was a regular at First United Methodist Church (across the street from Strack’s) for over 40 years. She was very excited when she was able go on a Mission Trip to the Lakota Indian reservation in South Dakota.

She loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking. She loved all the State Parks with Brown County having a special place in her heart as well as the Ohio River and the beaches of Lake Michigan.

Marguerite was an accomplished artist. She leaves behind a collection, though limited, that shows the skills and insights of a true artist.

She is at Hillside Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Highland. Service will be a private family affair at Hillside Funeral Home.
