Marilyn “Mern” McFadden, a resident of Griffith, Indiana, passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 90.
Marilyn was a long-time member of the local business community as the owner and operator of C.L.S. Jewelers in Highland, Indiana. She was also a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Griffith, where she frequently enjoyed helping with church activities and community events.
Outside of her business and church involvement, Marilyn spent her time with a variety of personal interests. She loved working in her garden, painting, sewing, and crocheting. Marilyn loved watching birds, playing bingo, visiting the casino, traveling on cruises, and spending time with her friends at the Griffith Senior Center.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents: her husband John C. McFadden; her son, John K. McFadden; her brother, William “Bill” Lemke; and her nephew, David Lemke.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas Lemke and his wife Ruth; her daughter-in-law, Cathy McFadden, her grandchildren, Kelly McFadden, Cindy McFadden, and Joshua McFadden and his wife Miranda; and her great-grandsons, Grant Red and Henry McFadden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A small gathering to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Hillside Funeral Home (8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, Indiana) with service to follow immediately at 6:00pm.
