Mary Jean Dabrowski (née Podkul), age 93, passed away on January 10, 2025.
She is survived by her sister: Irene Dedelow; her children: Anne (Tony) Keilman and Edward (Ashley) Dabrowski; her grandchildren: Jennifer (Jeff) Garza, Denise (AJ) Wilusz, Lauren (Mike) Benninghoff, Nicole (Mike) Ewing, Jessica Dabrowski, Christopher Dabrowski, and Adriana Dabrowski; her great-grandchildren: Madison Holmes, Kendal Holmes, James Ewing and Olivia Ewing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Kasimir and Mary Podkul (née Kocak); her husband, Edward; her son, Michael; her brothers Johnny, Chester, Eddie, and her sisters Jean, Cecille, and Evelyn.
Mary was born September 8, 1931 in Hammond, IN and attended Hammond Tech before going to work briefly at Continental Can in Hammond. Mary was a devout Catholic and life-long parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in East Chicago, IN.
She enjoyed watching all sports (especially the Cubs) and watching The Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. She loved helping her friends, and spending time with her family, and grandchildren.
Mary was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched. She was always willing to help anyone in need.
There will be a Celebration of Life visitation at Hillside Funeral Home, 8941 Kleinman Rd, (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN 46322 on February 6, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Mary’s life with a Catholic mass at St. Michael’s Church, 1 W Wilhelm St, Schererville, IN 46375 on February 7, 2025 at 10:30am.
