Mary Magdalene Wells, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at 2:51 a.m in her home. She was born on April 11, 1951, and spent her life giving love, wisdom, and strength to everyone blessed to know her.
Mary lived a life grounded in compassion, devotion to family, and unwavering faith. Her kindness touched many, and her presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to every gathering. She was a guiding light to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always offering encouragement, gentle wisdom, and an unconditional love that will be deeply missed.
Mary was preceded in death by husband Robert Wells, Jr, her parents Clifford and Martha Thornton, her mother, Hattie Mae Wyman, her brother Bobby Miles, Sr., and her sister Eula Wyman.
She is survived by her three daughters: Sherri Williams (Reggie Sr.) of Red Oak, Texas; Rhonda Kudolo of Columbus, Georgia; and Karneitra Adams of Lewisburg, West Virginia. She is also survived by five sisters: Nancy Marlowe of Columbus, Georgia; Winda Wyman (Kevin) of Sandyston, N.J. ; Lisa Wyman (Chris) of Scranton, Pennsylvania; Diane Wyman of Scranton, Pennsylvania; Joanne Wyman of Scranton, Pennsylvania; and three brothers: Ricky Wyman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sam Wyman of Scranton, Pennsylvania; and MC Wyman of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Mary’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brandon Adams, Reggie Williams, Jr., Aundrae Turner, Aundrea Williams, Lucky Caswell III, Courtney Johnson, Sydni Niamke (Jason), Shannon Adams, and Leslie Campbell. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren: Lauren Adams, Zachary Adams, Jadynn Davis, Mason Davis, Emerie Davis, Adai Raynor, and Sariah Thomas, and bonus grandson, Zay’vion Adams, along with a host of extended family who loved her dearly.
Mary’s life was a testament to strength, love, and resilience. Though she is no longer with us in body, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, surrounded by eternal light and rest.
Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
May her soul rest in everlasting peace.
