Mary Ann Bogielczyk (nee Pastor) died peacefully Monday, Sept. 26, 2022 at her home at age 96, preceded in death by her husband Walter “Wally.” A resident of Highland, IN since 1954 and previously East Chicago, IN. She was the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Pastor and surviving sister of Steve, Joseph Jr., and Daniel. Survived by her Daughters, Andrea “Joyce” (Dennis) Birdsong of Glendale, AZ and Jill (Michael) Popovich of Munster, IN. She was called “Nana” by her two grandsons, Kurt (Tiffany) Popovich and Craig Popovich. She loved her family and grandsons dearly. She was a life-long Cubs fan, watching nearly every game she could, and was elated to see the team win the World Series in her lifetime.
Mary Ann was a charter member of the Our Lady of Fatima Sorority at Holy Trinity Hungarian Parish in East Chicago, Indiana. Her parents immigrated from Hungry to the U.S. and she was very proud of her Hungarian heritage and spoke fluently in Hungarian. She was on a ladies league at Scherwood Golf Course for many years as well as bowling leagues at Plaza Lanes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Rd, Highland, IN from 3 pm - 6 pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place at Saint James the Less Catholic Church, 9640 in Highland, IN on Thursday at 10:30 am with burial at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Crown Point.
