Matthew Aulton Elza

Matthew Aulton Elza age 39 of Hammond, IN, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2025.

On August 12, 2012, he married the love of his life, Jessica Orzel and together they shared 13 years.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Jessica and their daughter, Henley whom he so adored. He is also survived by parents, Brian and Margaret Elza; mother-in-law, Karen (Chris) Nantus; father-in-law, Dale (Tina) Orzel, sisters, Bridget (Cody) Coates and Elise Johnson; aunts, Susan (Jim) Mysiewicz and Lisa Evans; uncle, Jeff (Millie) Elza; sister-in-law, Clara Kopacz; brothers-in-law, Zack and Kyle Bear; maternal grandmother, Sue Evans; paternal grandmother, Barbara Elza; nephews, Jackson, Grant and Andrew Coates and numerous friends and colleagues. 

Preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Leslie Evans and paternal grandfather, Keith Elza.

Matt adored spending time with his daughter, Henley. He was the "Ultimate Cheer Dad" and was her biggest fan often practicing with her. Although, he would cringe and look away when she was 'flying', he was so proud of her accomplishments.

Matt was an adoring, loving husband and father. He was quick witted and full of life. He would make everyone around him feel like a friend. His personality and humor will be greatly missed. 

There's no one in the world like you, Matt.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 20, 2025 beginning at 4:00pm followed by a Funeral Service at 8:00pm with Pastor Lee Atkinson officiating. All services held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland IN.
