Matthew James Korcha

Matthew James Korcha, age 56, passed away on January 2, 2026. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Robin (nee Mazur) Korcha; son, Jacob A. Korcha; brothers, Steven Korcha and Glenn (Jacquelyn) Korcha; uncle, Michael (Cheryl) Rietman; nieces, Brianna Korcha and Brooke Korcha; nephews, Brett Korcha and Bryan Korcha; brother-in-law, Greg (Shari) Mazur; numerous cousins, many dear friends and canine pals Lila and Willow.

Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Wilma (nee Rietman) Korcha.

Matthew was born on May 23, 1969 in Hammond, Indiana. He graduated from Thornton Fractional North Highschool in 1987 before following his education to Joliet Jr. College to earn his associates degree. In his earlier years, he worked as a chef at the Radisson Hotel and US Steel Mill for the Executive Lunch Club. Matthew would go on to work for various plumbing companies and ultimately retired from Downing Plumbing.

He was head over heels when he met the love of his life Robin and the pair married on June 6, 1998. The couple shared many wonderful memories and laughs together while raising their son Jacob. Matthew and Robin cherished the time they could spend with each other. 

Matthew was never far from the outdoors, in which many of his hobbies could be found in nature. He was often seen fishing, hunting, or camping. 

Matthew will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 3 to 7pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN.
