Melissa (née Angerhofer) Alfaro of Hobart, Indiana, passed away on July 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband, Daniel, and those who cherished her. She was 44 years old.
Melissa was raised in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1999. After high school, she followed her passion for beauty and creativity by attending cosmetology school. She spent over 20 years as a talented and beloved hair stylist at Bushwacker’s Hair Designers, where she built lasting relationships and helped countless clients feel confident and cared for.
Melissa had a heart as big as the sky. Her compassion for animals—especially dogs—was unmatched. From Kalley and Baxter to Milo and Paris, she adored her pets and loved them as her children, because they were. She had a special gift for connecting with children, effortlessly making them feel seen, heard, and joyful. Whether she was playing with them, making them laugh, or ensuring they had everything they needed, Melissa’s nurturing spirit shined through.
Her joy for life was contagious. Melissa loved to laugh, dance, and spend time at the beach or by the pool, soaking up sunshine and making memories. Music filled her soul, and she especially loved Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga, Sublime, and classic rock.
Melissa married the love of her life, Daniel Alfaro, on May 2, 2009, at St. James Church in Highland. Together they shared a deep, enduring bond built on love, laughter, and shared dreams.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and beauty. Her radiant smile lit up every room, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Daniel, her mother Rebecca (Keith) Lowrie, her father Vincent P. Angerhofer, her sister Sarah (Cavia) Mead, her sister-in-law Viviana Alfaro, her brothers-in-law Andrew and David Alfaro, her cherished nieces, nephews and her dear extended family, her beloved Milo the dog and a wide circle of friends and clients whose lives were better for having known her.
