With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael J. Karpik, who passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at the age of 71. He was born June 20, 1953 and lived a life filled with love, dedication and passion for the things that mattered the most, his family, work and favorite pastimes.
Michael was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Gabriella Karpik, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years with. Together they built a beautiful life centered around love and family. He was a proud father to Jacqueline (Michael) Lopez, Raymond (Theresa) Lomeli Jr., Michael L. (Sandra) Karpik and Angela (Steve) Thurston. He was a cherished grandfather to Alexandra (Jose), Angelina, Michael Jr., Briana, Raymond III, Bianca, Michael T., Ethan, Gabriel, Parker and Trevor and a loving great-grandfather to Melanie, Alan, Gustavo, Gia, Hazel and Zephyr. Michael had many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him, had a special bond with his grandson Raymond III, whom he spent much time with and was especially close with his brothers-in-law, Carlos (Alicia) Pantoja and John (Nora) Herrera.
Preceded in death by his parents, Michael Karpik and LaDonna Evans, his brothers Gary, James and Andrew, his sister Christine and brother-in-law, John Pantoja.
Michael dedicated 42 years to Mittal Steel, where he worked with pride and commitment. Outside of work he had a deep love for coaching soccer and softball, sharing his knowledge and passion. He was passionate for golf and would take any opportunity to hit the course, enjoying every moment of the game.
Michael will be truly missed by his family and friends. Until we meet again my dear sweetheart.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 4:00-8:00pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11:30am DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 3025 Highway Avenue Highland, IN with Rev. Brian Chadwick officiating.
