Michael John Knapik age 59, passed away on February 2, 2025.
Michael is survived by his three loving sisters, Kathy (Carlos) Salinas, Laura (Gene Bedinger) Little and Anne (Marc) Sokol.
Also surviving are nieces, Joanna (Bill) Nikolopoulos, Lauren (Kevin) Mackowicz, Michelle (Brock) Beeney, Elizabeth (Jon Gold) Alexander and Lillian & Josephine Knapik; nephews, Alex Salinas, Matthew (Chrissy) Sokol, John (Cheryl) Little, Frank Knapik, many great nieces and nephews, and special friend Meredith.
Michael was a lifelong resident of Hammond, Indiana and a 1984 graduate of Hammond High School. He attended Lake Michigan College and was honored to be named on the All-American college baseball team as an outstanding pitcher.
He worked as a journeyman carpenter at the University of Chicago for twenty years.
Michael was an avid sports enthusiast of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Black Hawks along with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He also enjoyed fishing at Pickerel Lake in Wisconsin and golfing.
He was an excellent baker, always making trays of treats for the holidays.
Michael also worked doing remodeling, building decks and home improvements. He was truly a Jack of all trades!
Preceded in death by parents, Casimir & Joanne Knapik, and brother, Frank Knapik.
Michael will be deeply missed by his Family.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 1:00pm with a Memorial Service at 3:00pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN.
