Michael Grochowski (Butch), 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on April 15, 1951, in Gary Indiana, Michael was the son of Mary and Slovko Kenjic.
He worked for many years as an Instructor for the Laborers International Union of North America. A beloved instructor and colleague to all he crossed paths with. He volunteered with the Lake Station fire department. His service amongst his community
was one of his greatest sources of pride.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. Michael was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him. He found pride in his work and you never knew what he would be doing when you called, but he’d always pick up the phone. Michael found his greatest joy in being around his children and many grandchildren. He loved his animals, family, and the friends he made along the way.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Grochowski; his children, Michelle (Billy) Sauls, Kortni (Tony) Centraccio, Michael (Jerry) Grochowski-Pucket, and Haley (Lauren) Grochowski; his beloved grandchildren, Katy (Kenneth) Barnes, Allison (Oliver) South,
Alyssa (Jones) Blankenship, Brianna (Preston) Jarnigan, Seth Blankenship, Mannisha Singh, Jayden Singh; and his four great grandchildren; along with his siblings; Jim (Mary) Boles, Walt Grochowski, Linda (Wayne) Monette, Millie Kenjic, Dorothy (Ray)
Kenjic, Wanda (Tony) Broocker, Lillian (John) Arena, Joe (Kim) Kenjic and Tanya (Ed) Krumries; along with his many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kenjic, and his father Slovko Kenjic.
Michael’s legacy is one of love, friendship, and devotion to his family. His memory will live on in the ones who loved and cherished him.
A celebration of life will be held with a visitation for 10 AM - 12 PM, with a service at noon and dinner to follow on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Springville Community church, at 5244 IN-39, La Porte, IN 46350.
