Michaelene "Mickey" (Belka) Borchert

Michaelene “Mickey” Borchert (nee Belka), age 75, of Highland, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.  She is survived by her husband, Donald (Don); granddaughter, Hannah Muratori; sister, Theresa (and the late August) Provenzano and loving nieces and nephews.  Preceding her in death was her beloved daughter, Joan Harnden; parents, Charlotte and Stephen Belka; and brother, Dennis (and the late Delores) Belka.

Mickey was married to Don for 57 years.  She often said “even though I’m Mickey and am married to Donald, we’ve never been to Disney.”  She retired from Jewel after working 20 years there as a front desk staff and a cashier.  Though retired, she decided to work at Kohls.  Apparently 30% coupons weren’t enough. She enjoyed doing ceramics and later in life crafting whatever crazy ideas her daughter, Joan, or niece, Lori Belka, had in store for her and her friend, Joyce Gurtatowski on those days.  Her best days were when she was able spend time with her granddaughter, Hannah.  Mickey loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed by them.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm. Deacon James "Jim" Renwick officiating.
