Nancy J. (Shingler) States

Nancy J. States, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025 with family at her side.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Gregg) Erikson, son David States, sisters Betty Scott and Barbara Haskett, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell States, daughter Susan States, son Robert (Sandra) States, parents George & Julia Shingler, and brother John Shingler.

Nancy was born in Gary, IN. She worked as a secretary at US Steel until she raised her family in Highland, She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church. She enjoyed crafting, reading, and word search puzzles. Nancy was never far from her coffee pot and always had a cup nearby! She was always ready with a lending ear for anyone who needed one.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322. Prayer Service pending time.

Funeral Services will be private.
