Nancy Lynn Tuttle (Holmgren) of Schererville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at William J. Riley Hospice in Munster, Indiana. Nancy was born on August 15, 1957, in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Betty L. Holmgren.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Tuttle, her daughter Katie Garvey (Collier), son-in-law, Mike Garvey, sister, Fredna Holmgren, and grandchildren Casey and Bennett Garvey. She is also survived by her niece, Naima Gardner, and great-niece and nephew, as well as cherished friends. Nancy loved her family fully and cherished them always. She showed so much love to them all up to her dying days. Nothing brought her greater joy than her family, and she to them.
Besides her love for family, Nancy had a passion for sports and especially the Chicago Cubs. Her family carries on that tradition and especially carries on the Daily Pick Cubs game that she created years ago. The miracle of this fun game was how it kept its members of family and friends connected throughout the year, regardless of their busy schedules and distance apart.
Nancy loved books, puzzles, music, and was an amazing cook. She especially shone when it came to making holiday meals. She left nothing unturned when making the holidays special for everyone.
Nancy was a fond animal lover and was preceded in death by numerous beloved pets, especially her dog Maddie. Her love of animals came from her childhood summers at her grandma’s farm. Nancy played outside from sunup to sundown, running through the cornfields, chasing the pigs, climbing to the barn loft, and capturing lightning bugs in the dark waiting for the homemade ice cream to finish churning. Nancy was the sweetest and kindest person who made all who knew her feel special and loved. She cared deeply about humanity and the rights of all.
Nancy is a graduate of Griffith High School. She retired in 2021 from Spitz & Miller Insurance Agency where she worked for over 30 years as an insurance agent and office manager.
Nancy will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a one-of-a-kind grandma, mom, and wife. We will miss her laugh, her conversations, and her love.
