Norma Benoit Obituary

Norma Jean (Stabler) Benoit, 82, of Munster, Indiana was called to eternal rest on Monday, October 12, 2020 with her cherished family by her side. Norma Jean was born on August 14, 1938 to Fred and Erna B. (Millies) Stabler in Hammond, Indiana. She graduated from Hammond High School and attended Indiana University Northwest.

Norma was united in marriage to “the love of her life”, Robert P. Benoit on January 4, 1958. They celebrated 53 years of marriage and were blessed with five cherished children, September, Tim, Kelly, Tad, and Bob. Norma, who was a dedicated mother, was immensely proud of her family. Lovingly called “Hunny” by her grandchildren, she embraced every moment with them and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

As an avid history enthusiast, Norma was a co-founder, past president, and active member of the Munster Historical Society. With a longing to see the world, Norma and her devoted, adventurous husband Bob, traveled and embraced the excitement of distant cultures, art, history, and people. Norma deeply appreciated nature, loved gardening, and was comforted by her furry pal, Skipper.

Nobody else held us so tight
Or made us feel so right
No one’s eyes shined so bright with love
As our mom, who is now high above
