In Loving Memory of Pamela Denise Franklin
December 4, 1957 – May 16, 2026
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Pamela Denise Franklin, who departed this life on May 16, 2026.
Born on December 4, 1957, in East Chicago, Indiana, Pamela was the beloved daughter of Jean (Pickett) Franklin and Major James Franklin Sr., both of whom preceded her in death. She was also blessed with the love and guidance of her spiritual mother, Earnie Gary.
A proud graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1975, Pamela began her working career at LTV/Republic Steel in 1975. Throughout her life, she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic, continuing her career with both the Chicago Transit Authority and the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority.
Faith was the foundation of Pamela’s life. She gave her life to Christ and faithfully served the Lord throughout the years. In 1981, she became a member of Evangelist Hope Church in Chicago, IL where she continued to grow spiritually and serve faithfully. In 2021, she joined Jubilee Worship Center in Hobart, Indiana where she remained devoted to her faith and church family.
Pam cherished her family deeply and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith. She is lovingly survived by her children, Taya (Patrick) Molex and Brian (Toi) Stewart; and her treasured grandchildren, Kira, Marc, Nia, Daniel, Noah, and Micah, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is also survived by her siblings: Sandra Smith, Darryl Battle, Joan Franklin, Bridgette Warnsley, Aretha Franklin-Gary, Veda Johnson, Elaine Franklin, Lanore Jackson, Major Franklin, Jr., Darren George, George Franklin, Ashley Souriya, and Taurean Miller.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Linda Johnson and Kevin Battle.
Pam also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by her love, faith, and kindness, including her special great-niece, Shaquiera Wallace.
Pamela will be remembered for her unwavering faith, resilience, and love for her family. Her kindness, strength, and presence touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service celebrating Pamela’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Jubilee Worship Center, 415 N. Hobart Road, Hobart, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Pamela’s memory.
