Peter Paul Schillinger III

Peter Paul Schillinger III, known to all as Paul, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the William J. Riley House in Munster, Indiana. He was 70 years old.

Born on July 24, 1954, in Bloomington, Illinois, Paul was the son of the late Peter Paul Schillinger II and Johanna Schillinger. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and went on to build a successful career as an engineer, working in the industrial and food processing industries.

He was an avid bicyclist, a lifelong DIYer long before the term existed, and someone who approached every project—large or small—with precision and care. A bit of a perfectionist, he balanced his wit with a wry, offbeat sense of humor that made him unforgettable to those who knew him.

Above all else, Paul was a devoted family man. He was the kind of father, grandfather, and brother who always put others first, quietly offering support and strength without expecting recognition.

Paul is survived by his four children: Peter Schillinger IV, Katy Schillinger, Aubree Schillinger, and Sydney Schillinger; his beloved grandchildren, Ellen, Jane, and Etta; his sisters, Barbara Burt (husband Tim) and Rhonda Hischke (husband Mark); and Suzanne Sykora, mother of his daughters Aubree and Sydney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Josephine Givot; and his wife, Lisa Schillinger (née Bollinger), with whom he shared many meaningful years.

Paul will be cremated and laid to rest alongside his parents at Park Hill Monument and Memorials in Bloomington, Illinois. A private family celebration of life will be held, with a larger gathering planned in the coming months to honor his memory with extended friends and loved ones.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength—and will be dearly missed.
