Radine Marie Green, a gentle soul, an amazing woman, devoted and loving sister, aunt, god mother, neice and friend, who nurtured beauty both on the earth and the in hearts of everyone she met, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, just days after celebrating her 65th birthday. Born on April 20, 1961, to the late Raymond Lawrence Ballestero and Delores Dora (Hunter) Ballestero, Radine lived her life with an open heart and a generous spirit. On September 16, 1992, she married the love of her life, Alan Green. Together, they built a life rooted in love and devotion until his passing in August 2015. During the difficult days of Alan's illness, their dear friend James Lundquist came into their lives, providing steadfast support and comfort. Following Alan's passing, Radine and James shared a deeply meaningful bond, spending 15 years together as devoted companions, bringing each other immense joy, love, and partnership. Radine graduated from Portage High School, class of 1979. Her lifelong passion for helping others led her to Saint Anne's Nursing School in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated her career to the service of others, ultimately receiving her C.R.R.N. Certification for rehabilitation nurses and serving as a Supervisor at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, Indiana for home health rehabilitation. As a nurse and leader, she brought comfort, healing, and dignity into the homes of countless patients, guiding them through recovery with unmatched empathy and professionalism. When she wasn't caring for patients, Radine could be found tending to her remarkable backyard garden. Her garden was a vibrant sanctuary that she cared for with endless patience and love. Just like the flowers she grew, Radine had a rare gift for making the world around her more beautiful, vibrant, and alive.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Raymond and Delores Ballestero; her husband, Alan Green; her devoted companion and life partner, James Lundquist; and her uncle, Peter (Hedy) Ballestero. She leaves behind her loving sisters and brother-in-law, Darlene M. (Robert) Crecelius and Kathleen M. Ballestero-Sanders. She is also survived by her aunt, Hedy Ballestero; her beloved nieces and nephews and their spouses: Kayla Crecelius, Robert (Kristen) Crecelius, Alyse (Malachi) Johnson, and Taylor (Andrew) Spica; her cousins, Thomas (Penny) Ballestero, and Mona Carnahan. She also leaves behind many cherished great-nieces and great-nephews who brought great joy to her life. Her beautiful memory will be forever cherished by the many friends, neighbors, and patients whose lives she touched so profoundly. She will be greatly missed.
