Randy D. Alderson

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Randy D. Alderson, who left this world on May 21, 2026, at the age of 68, after a courageous battle with cancer. Randy passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his 2 best  friends.

Born on February 18, 1958, in Bristol, Tennessee, Randy was the cherished son of the late Zella "Tootsie" Vance and Sam Alderson, and the beloved brother of the late Vonda Vance.

A proud graduate of North Newton High School, class of 1977, Randy was an exceptional athlete. He shone brightly as a four-year varsity starter in football, basketball, and baseball, a testament to his dedication and passion. His spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship left an indelible mark on all who played alongside him.

Randy found his calling as a skilled finish carpenter and handyman, a craft he honed with pride and precision. As co-owner of 5th Avenue Supplies in Gary, Indiana, Randy's work was not just a means of livelihood but a way to connect and serve his community. His craftsmanship was unparalleled, and his commitment to quality was evident in every project he undertook.

A fervent fan of the Chicago Bears and White Sox, Randy's love for sports extended beyond his own achievements. Whether he was cheering from the stands or discussing the latest game with friends, his enthusiasm was infectious. Golf was another of Randy's cherished pastimes, offering him moments of peace and camaraderie on the greens.

Randy was a man whose heart was as vast as his talents. Known for his genuine kindness and unwavering loyalty, he cultivated friendships that spanned decades. His best friends, Jim Bigger and Carl Simmons, along with countless others, will forever remember the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.

A celebration of Randy's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Lugene Links Golf Course in Lake Village, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in a tribute to a man who gave so much to so many.

In this time of sorrow, we are comforted by the enduring love he shared, a bond that transcends his physical presence. Randy's spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
