He also worked for Miller Carbonic and was responsible for the installation of bulk CO2 (carbon dioxide) systems in area businesses.
An opportunity arose for Ray to return to his first love, psychology. He attended Valparaiso University’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and graduated in 2001 with his M.A. degree.
He was a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a National Board Certified Fellow in Clinical Hypnotherapy. He was also a drug and alcohol addiction counselor.
He was self-employed and worked as a contractor for the EAP department at Mittal Steel now known as Cleveland Cliffs before retiring in December 2023.
He met the love of his life, Genette, when they were sixteen. They married in 1980 and recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.
His hobbies included woodworking in which you can see his work in the remodeling and furniture pieces in his home, his love of steam locomotives, all things Sherlock Holmes and his collection and restoration of antique phonographs.
Ray was a loving husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He will greatly be missed by all whose lives he touched.
