Richard Earl Matthies Obituary

Richard Earl Matthies, 62, of Munster, IN. passed away Monday, March 16, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife Laura, beloved children: Sarah Matthies, Jeff Matthies, loving mother: Martha Matthies, siblings: Hulan Matthies, Ted Matthies, William (Mary) Matthies, Matthew (Gloria) Matthies, Mary Matthies, Margie (Brian) Black, and many additional loving family and friends. Richard was preceded in death by father Henry, sister Marty, and his buddy Doodles.

A burial service will be held at noon, Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Elmwood Cemetery, 1413 169th St, Hammond, IN 46324.

Richard was retired from the railroad after 33 years of service, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Richton Park, IL. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, movies, Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears, and a member of the First Chicago Bottle Club. Richard was a loving father who will be greatly missed.
