Ricky A. Malsch
April 14, 1956 – April 8, 2025
Ricky A. Malsch passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on April 8, 2025, just days before his 69th birthday. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ricky’s warmth, kindness, and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his cherished son, Jacob Malsch (Elizabeth Ciupa), and his adored grandson, Augustus. Ricky also leaves behind his loving siblings: Linda (Ronald) West, Melrae (the late John) Luft, his twin sister Rhonda (David) Hutchens, and his brother and best friend, Kenneth (the late Marian) Malsch. He is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews who brought him great joy throughout the years, as well as his devoted canine companion, Mingo.
Born on April 14, 1956, Ricky was raised in Lansing, Illinois, and graduated from T.F. South High School in 1974. He began his career at SG Hayes and retired from Crowley-Shepard Asphalt. Never one to truly slow down, Ricky continued to share his many talents and tireless work ethic at Highland Christian School and, most recently, Gordon Lumber Company. He was a proud 35-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150.
A true outdoorsman, Ricky found joy on the water and the golf course, especially when spending time with his son and brother. His magnetic presence, boundless generosity, and infectious laugh made him a friend to all who crossed his path.
Ricky’s life will be honored with a visitation on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road), Highland, Indiana with a Funeral at 6:00 p.m.
Ricky will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
