Robert R. Bainbridge, also known as “Bibs” and “Bob”, 76, joined his beloved dog Molly in the sweet hereafter on Friday, April 28th, 2023. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Sharon A. Bainbridge, and children: daughter Karen (Craig) Molden (Kelsey, Kyle), daughter Laura (Drew) Doxsee (Moira, Brooke), son Robert “Bobby” (Donya) Bainbridge (Anna, Abygale, RJ), stepson George (Susan) Taulia (Elizabeth, Emily, John, Alex, Robert “Rob”, Sofia, Matthew “Hannah”, Diego, Mateo), and stepdaughter Rachel Browning (Makenzee, Brenton, Xavier, Nick). He is also survived by two brothers: Tom (Lynn) Bainbridge and James (Cheryl) Bainbridge as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bibs was a lifelong Bears fan, even during the years in which being such a fan was rather difficult. He was happiest when jamming with his brother Tom, playing guitar and harmonizing, with friends and family singing along. Bob loved model trains, and was a lifelong tinkerer, fix-it man, and general good guy. Bob claimed that he didn’t really like other people, but the people who knew and loved him knew how true that actually was not. He was a deadly shot with a rubber band, and always had a hidden stash of chocolate covered peanuts. Bob worked at Inland Steel for over 44 years as a machinist and as a supervisor for the machine shop.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3rd,2023 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm CST at Hillside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 with a eulogy at 7:00 pm.
Bob was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation and would be honored if you would contribute in some way to help that organization.
