Scott Hurt (Robert Scott Hurt) was born in Muncie, Indiana on November 24, 1948 to Juanita Smith Hurt and Ernest Hurt Jr. He grew up in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1966. Immediately after high school he joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years.
Scott was a talented artist and spent many years creating neon signs and art. Several of his creations can still be seen on local businesses.
Scott is survived by two sisters, Kristin Zandstra and Jane Kasting; brother, Dwight (Cindy Smith) Hurt; nieces, Kristin (Adel) Karam, Christina (Trevor) Smith, and Melissa Whiting (Steven Snyder).
