Robert B. Podgorski, age 80, of Lynwood, IL went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Marion Podgorski (DeMaio); children, Dorene Albright, Cindy (Joe) Nieckula, Kirk Busch, Carolyn (Tom) Golden, and Bert (Pam) Busch; grandchildren, Nora (Dan) Hernandez, Stephanie Golden, Michelle (Jason) Robbins, Gregory (Hannah) Nieckula, Justin (Sarah) Albright, Eric (Elaine) Ohlund, Rachel (Paul) Valentas, Tarah Ohlund, Amy (Tom) Webb, Michael (Sam) Albright, Steven (Kirsti) Golden, Mike Busch, Alison (Brendan) Burke, and Melissa (Austin) Tripam; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Courtney, Jaime, Kara, Alyssa, Emily, Isabelle, Keegan, Zach, Jet, Annabelle, Gavin, Drew, Maverick, Layla, Tanner, Ezra, Felix, Paxton, Luca, Otis, Amelia, Lakelyn, Finley, Abigail, Brecken, and Lydia.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Bruno and Lottie Podgorski, his son-in-law Danny Richwalski, and his grandson Dan Golden.

Bob was born on May 19, 1945, in Harvey, IL. He proudly served our country in the Army Reserves for nine years. He retired from Commonwealth Edison, where he was a lineman.

Bob was an avid golfer and took great pride in the day he scored a hole-in-one. He was also a devoted fisherman who loved fishing, whether he was traveling on a fishing trip or simply standing on the dock with his grandchildren. He enjoyed caring for his yard and eagerly helped family, friends, and neighbors with theirs, as well as with electrical projects. Many of his grandchildren’s favorite memories are of days spent with Grandpa at the lake. Bob will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Avenue Highland, IN with Rev. Gregory Bim-Merle officiating.

Gathering of family and friends beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment to follow service at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
