Roberta Rhoten

Roberta Rhoten, age 77, of Griffith, Indiana, born January 15, 1949, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and treasured memories.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert and Verda Thompson, and her cherished grandchildren, Chelsea Price and Randall Rhoten.

Roberta was the devoted wife of Fred Rhoten, her loving partner of 55 years. Together, they built a life centered on family, commitment, and the joy found in simple moments. Roberta and Fred SR were blessed with two children, Penny Grish and Freddie Rhoten JR, who were a constant source of pride and love in her life. She is also survived by her loving sister, Nona Kaul.

She leaves behind her grandchildren Nathaniel, Alexis, Kaleigh, Jordan, Landon, James, Meaghan, and Mackenzie, Lucas and Noah. Roberta also leaves behind the greatest joys of her life—her great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, who was truly the highlight of her days; Greyson; Raelyn; “Little-Man,” her best friend; and Valente and Vinito, who brought endless happiness to her heart.

Roberta retired from the Hammond Clinic after 30 years of dedicated service, where she proudly served and cared for the community.

In her free time, Roberta found her greatest happiness spending time with her great-grandchildren, creating beautiful diamond paintings, and enjoying backyard cookouts while Fred grilled. She cherished life’s simple pleasures and had a special gift for making meaningful memories with the people she loved most.

Roberta will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the joy she found in everyday moments. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 4:00 pm.
