Ronda Kay Hill, 62 years young, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in her Hammond, Indiana home after a courageous year‑long battle with pancreatic cancer, held closely in the love and presence of those who cherished her.
Ronda was born on February 22, 1963, in Okinawa, Japan, the youngest daughter of James Stanley Hill and the late Valarie Elaine Cruz. She spent her childhood in North Webster, Indiana, and graduated from Wawasee High School in 1981. In the mid‑1980s she moved to Northwest Indiana, eventually making her home in Hammond, where she lived for the past decade. For twenty years she was a dedicated member of the staff at the Center for Performing Arts in Munster, Indiana, a place she cared for deeply.
Ronda lived a life defined by generosity, compassion, and quiet strength. She was a deeply caring friend, a loving mother, and a safe place for all who needed warmth.
She is survived by her three children Kem (Bruna) Mastey, Ariel (Zack) Marciniec and their two children Daylen and Landon, and Katherine Mastey. Ronda is also survived by her father James Hill and her siblings Robin (Brian) Snyder, Kim Marcadis, Jim Hill, Dina Cruz and Jo (Gene) Kinnaly. She is survived by her dearest friend and partner in crime Bo Walls.
She is preceded in death by her loving partner, David Mastey, whom she carried with her in spirit and memory. Her mother Valerie Elaine Cruz and her sibling Ray Cruz.
Her kindness lives on in every life she touched, every animal she saved, and every moment she gave more than she took. Though her life here has ended, her light remains: soft, steady, and everlasting.
Ronda was deeply loved, and she will be missed beyond words.
A celebration of life will be held July 18, 2026 at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts 1040 Ridge Rd, Munster, IN from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
