Sally Schwandt, passed away at the age of 87 on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
She is survived by her four loving children; daughters Jennifer Briscuso of St. John, Suzanne (Steve) Delich of Dyer, sons Ted (Heather) Schwandt, Jr of Highland and George Schwandt of Atlanta, Ga; her adoring grandchildren: Thomas Briscuso, Jakob Delich (Zoe), Blake Schwandt, Chase Schwandt, Gracie Delich, brother George Cutean of San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore, parents George and Theodora Cutean, sisters Mary Pavel, Anna Schwandt, and brother John Cutean.
Sally was born on January 31, 1938, graduated from Griffth High School in 1956 and then began working Inland Steel as a Key Punch Operator. On January 28, 1965 she married the love of her life Theodore Schwandt sharing 57 years of marriage. They raised their family in Highland, and were active in organizing St. James the Less Catholic Church in 1967.
Sally enjoyed cooking for everyone. You could not leave her home without eating or having something to drink. She enjoyed teaching people how to cook, enjoyed watching her children play sports and attending special events such as Christmas concerts and plays, events for her grandchildren and loved to play card games such as Uno and Rummy. The time with her husband and children was cherished, but she was especially excited to be with her grandchildren who she loved dearly. They were the light of her life.
Family and Friends are invited to meet with the family on November 10th, 2025, between 9:00 am and 10:00 am at The Descent of the Holy Ghost Church, located at 750 W 61st Ave, Merrillville, IN. Church services will be held after visitation. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery located at 2305 W 73rd Ave, Merrillville, IN.
