Santiago "Jimmy" Gamez

Pastor Santiago “Jimmy” Gamez age 72, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, October 26, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife Graciela Gamez, 5 children Santiago Gamez Jr., David (Anna) Gamez, Marcos (Susie) Gamez, Ruthie (Manny) Figueroa, Esteban (Lita) Gamez; 13 Grandchildren Elena, Alexandra, Alyssa, Manny Jr., Jacqueline, Amayah, Noelani, Anthony, Malachi, Alena, Gabriela Lucilla, and Micah; 7 Siblings Manuel (Angie) Gamez, Clara (Robert) Trevino, Janie Pabon, Margie (Jesse) Castro, Jesse Gamez, Mary (Jesus) Villagomez, and Julia (Jose Luis) Galvan; Mother-in-law Paula Rangel and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father Francisco Gamez Sr., his mother Luz H. Gamez, and his brother Francisco Gamez Jr.

Santiago was born in Greely, Colorado, was raised in Amarillo, Texas, and started his family in Hammond, Indiana. He attended Berea Bible College for 4 years. First and foremost, he loved God and his family. He was married to the love of his life Graciela for nearly 50 years. Together they served the Lord and their congregation New Life Church of Hammond. (Rarely did you see them apart) He loved watching action movies with his children and buying his grandkids McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts. He was truly the definition of a faithful Man of God and was there for anyone who needed help. He was known for playing the guitar and praying for the sick. Santiago is now in his mansion next door to Jesus and walking the streets of purest gold. We will miss him dearly but his love for our family and legacy of following Christ will never leave us.

Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road Highland In 46322 on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 9:30 am with burial to follow at Concordia Cemetery in Hammond, Indiana.
