Sharon Kay Brooks

Sharon Kay Brooks, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the age of 83 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence - Hospice of Calumet Area.

Sharon was born on November 27 ,1941 to Frank and Mildred Olkoski in Hurst, Illinois. She grew up surrounded by her large family. After her schooling in the Hurst/Busch School system, she attended Southern Illinois University, where she earned her bachelors degree to become a teacher. She then married her lifelong partner, Ronald Brooks in 1963. After marriage, Sharon and Ron moved to Hammond, Indiana, where they raised their three children before returning back to Hurst.

She was particularly fond of nature, gardening and wildlife. She was a faithful servant of the Lord. Sharon cherished spending most mornings having breakfast and coffee with her sisters. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time visiting different casinos where she always had the touch of luck.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Brooks; parents Frank and Mildred Olkoski; brothers, Frank (Sharon) Olkoski and Rudy (Karla) Olkoski; sisters, Mary Ann (George) Snider and Judith Weyburg.

Sharon is survived buy her loving children, Ronald (Anita) Brooks, Tanya (Garry) Lubarski and Robert Brooks; grandchildren, Edward Brooks, Amanda Brooks, Vaughn Lubarski and Madison Lubarski; great- grandchildren, Rayon Lubarski and Zakkai Austin; siblings Jeanie (Carol) Lingle and Karen Hemphill; numerous of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sharon was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched.
