Steve Barath, age 61, of Gary, IN, passed away Monday October 19, 2020. He is survived by his daughters Pamela (Robert) Craft and Cindy; Sister Sherry (Dave) Kolisz and brother Robert (Sherry) Barath. In Laws James (Shirley) Bender, Sister in laws Sue (Joel), Debra, Lisa, Cindy and Jennifer; grandchildren Angelina, Kamila, Xavier and Tyler, many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Preceeded in death by his loving wife Patricia Bender-Barath, mother Phyllis Berry-Barath, father Stephan Barath and many other relatives.
Steve was married for 39 years that he dearly loved his wife no matter what. He was a dedicated church member for 35 years. He loved his CB radio for a long time and made lots of friends. He loved his NASCAR , baseball, football and hockey. He enjoyed taking trips with his family to wherever the family wanted to go. After 36 years of marriage, Steve and his wife Patricia renewed their wedding vows at Dyer Baptist Church with family, friends, and church members. Steve love working on cars and trucks taking it all apart, rebuild engines and other stuff with vehicles. He did love his drag racing with all different types of cars. Steve enjoy teaching his daughter Pam how to do different things that she didn’t know and taught his grandson Xavier how to do different things too. Steve took care of his wife for many years and there granddaughters for 16 years. He was a great husband, father, grandpa, uncle, cousin, and friend to everyone. He will be deeply missed.
A gathering will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN 46322 on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Pastor Lee Akinson officiating. Memorials may be given to the family in his name. In lieu of flowers family is asking for donations for burial cost.
