Susan C. (Ploszaj) Bragiel

Susan C. Bragiel, age 82, went to Heaven on January 23, 2026. 

She is survived by her loving husband, James J. Bragiel; son, James R. Bragiel; sister, Christine (late Robert) Lolli; granddaughter, Avery; special friend, Melina; many nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Josephine Ploszaj and sister, Marceline Zak. 

Susan was born November 16, 1943 in Hammond, IN. She was a graduate of St. Michaels High School for Girls and went on to work in the corporate field as an accountant manager for the Morgan Services Textiles Co. in Chicago IL. 

She married the love of her life, James Bragiel on May 6, 1967, and lived together for 58 1/2 years in Hammond, IN. James retired from the Hammond Fire Department in 2004 and Susan retired in 2005. 

She loved to go and do things with her granddaughter and loved watching football and baseball; especially The Bears and the STL Cardinals.

She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt and will be missed by all whose lives she touched. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, at The Carmelite Fathers Church, 1628 Ridge Rd Munster, IN, 46321.

Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.
