On Thursday August 22, 2019 Terri went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loved ones after a long and courageous battle.

Terri’s passion was being an elementary school teacher with the Lake Ridge School Corp. from 1986- 2013 before she retired. She enjoyed her 27-year career working with “her kids” and had achieved many accolades including a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University.

Her love for her large family was evident with anyone who knew her. From large family gatherings, to holiday parties- she was always surrounded by love. Her laugh was contagious, and everyone gravitated toward her.

Terri is survived by her husband of 28 years Lawrence L. Woods , Sr.. She is survived by her four daughters Elizabeth (Ralph) Leyba of Crown Point, IN, Andie Brandon of Portage, IN, Beverly (Jay) Parlor of Hammond, IN, and Tracy (Matt) Downing of Highland, IN, two sons Lawrence (Lisa) Woods, Jr. of Rensselaer, IN, and Randy (Sue) Woods of DeMotte, IN. Her siblings Gay (Wayne) Taylor of Auburn NY, Ralph Downing, Jr of Hobart, IN, Gary Downing of Griffith, IN, Dawn (Al) Czapczyk of Portage, IN, and Dori (Rachel) Downing of Frankfort, IL. 11 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph “Ducky” Downing and Rhea Townsel Downing.

Friends can call on the family on Sunday August 25, 2019 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd.) Highland, IN 46322. Funeral Service will be on Monday August 26, 2019 at 10:00 am at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens 8718 Cline Ave. Crown Point, IN 46307. Services officiated by Pastor Jim Utley.
