Thomas Lee Elston

Thomas Lee Elston, 64, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away Tuesday January 28, 2025 at home. He was born February 18th, 1960 in Gary, Indiana to James Edward and Dorothy (Finnearty) Elston, who precede him in death.

Thomas is survived by his significant other Janice O’ Brien, and his six children: Sons Christopher, Randy, Justin (Kristen), Thomas, and Timothy (Nena) Elston and daughter Jamie (Eric) Elston. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Elston. Thomas (Papa) is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler, Taylor, Colton, Lily, Alana, Payton, Landon, Brantley, Cashton, Nicholas, Micheal, and Randy’s two girls. His loyal companion, his dog Houdini, was by his side through many adventures.

Thomas is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Bo (Jean) Elston, Toney (Sheryl) Elston, Norma (Gary) Finney, Adele (Tom) Berens, Jackie (Bill) Johnson, Bobbie (Mike) Bukur, Kelly (Tina) Elston, and Billie (Jim) Swift.

Thomas (Uncle Tommy/Tom) is also survived by many nieces and nephews; Richard (Kim), Devon (Barbie), Rocky (Brea), Tracy (Derek), Paris, Shannon (Becky), Morgan (Josh), Cameron, Korri, Jesslyn, Nathan, Ashton, Shawna, Jimmy, Hunter, Mikey, Jimbob, Johnnie (Krista), Maggie (Mike), Kristie (Joe), Anna, Zackery, Nicholas, Sammy (Matt), Karlee, Markus, Billy, Radar. 

Thomas loved his family, friends, and animals very much. He cherished every moment spent with the people he loved. Thomas had a heart of gold and had compassion for every human being. Thomas was such a kind soul.

Thomas will be profoundly missed, but his love, legacy, and the joy he brought into the lives of others will continue to resonate with all the knew him. Thomas was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. 

Visitation for Thomas will be held on Wednesday February 5th, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, Indiana, 46322.
