Thomas R. DeLaughter

Thomas R. DeLaughter, 87, of Gary, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.  He is survived by his loving wife, Beth; three children, Cindy (Randy) Nieter of Chesapeake, Virginia; Brian (Kim) of Lantana, Texas, and Douglas (Laura) of Crown Point, Indiana; seven adoring grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one expected in June. 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, Indiana 46322.  A Memorial Service will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the funeral home; Pastor Phil Humber, officiating.  Interment, Ridge Lawn Cemetery, Gary, Indiana.

Tom was born September 29, 1931, in Gary, Indiana, to "Zeke" and Daisy DeLaughter.  He was a "49er" from Tolleston High School, and proudly served in the United States Army in Korea.  Tom and Beth were married in September of 1954, and he was employed by Illinois and Indiana Bell for 37 years as a craftsman and Supervisor.  He loved traveling, volunteering wherever needed, working in the yard, fishing, and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.  He attended Central Baptist Church and current member of Lake Hills Baptist Church in Schererville.  Tom was known for his smile, and has never met a stranger.
