Thomas "Tom" Richard Burriss, age 67, passed peacefully at home beside his immediate family on January 20th, 2025 in Griffith, IN.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Vickie Burriss; his children, Kyle Burriss(Nicole), and Iris (Jason) Fedorchak; his Grandchild, Mickey Arthur Fedorchak; his siblings, Mary Ellen Alekna and Robert Burriss; along with many friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eleanor Burba and Gordon Burriss; and his siblings, John Burriss, Gordon W. Burriss, Jimmy A. Burriss.
Tom was born August 24th,1957 in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina. He moved to Chicago, IL with his family as child in which later as an adult he proudly worked as a Construction Carpenter(McHugh) for the beautiful city of Chicago. Tom has worked on many projects and high rises in the city and his son Kyle follows in his footsteps. On June 7th, 1982 he married the love of his life Victoria Bartasius, they lived a wonderful life together spending the majority of that in Griffith, IN raising their 2 children and enjoying their homestead.
He was fond of the outdoors and nature. Tom loved plants and gardening, going fishing, loved bike rides, long drives through nature and enjoyed being in his garage or backyard over being inside. He treasured being a new Grandfather, always delighted by his grandson Mickey and watching him run around and play.
As well as being a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather, Tom was also a cousin, uncle, and friend to many. Family and friends were very important to him and he will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 4:30pm on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland,IN 46322.
