VaRetta James

VaRetta James, age 74, finished her earthly journey and joined her husband in heaven on April 8, 2024.

She is survived by her two sons: Richard (Sheri) James and Benjamin (Melissa) James and grandchildren: Nick James, Demi Lewis, Brett, Tori, Zoey Thomas and Chloe James and great grand-daughter: Braylee; Sisters: Andrea, Rhenda, Austeen and Vinell; numerous nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death by husband Bobby James, parents Austin and Irene Hughes; Brothers JW, Murrell, Roger, Tony and sister Dixie.

VaRetta was born in Pinrod, KY on May 14, 1949 She graduated Valedictorian of Chatsworth High School in 1967. She married the love of her life Bobby James on May 25, 1969. She was an active part of Lighthouse Baptist Church where she served the Lord through her card ministry. Worked 20+ years at Walmart in there accounting offices.

She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Va was a loving, caring and giving mom, grandma, great-grandma sister, aunt, and friend. She will truly be missed.

Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322 on Sunday, April 14 between 2:00pm-6:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, at 10:00am at Hillside Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
