Velma Fay Dodd-Alexander, age 87, of Valparaiso Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Velma is preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Joe Dodd; daughter Angelia Lynn Dodd; daughter, Myra Ann LeFevers; and son, Ricky Dale Dodd and Step-son, Terry Alexander.
Velma is survived by her husband, George Alexander; Son, Bill (Diana) Dodd; Daughter, Teresa (Mike) Hays; Daughter, Donna Dodd; Daughter, Jeanettea (Nick) Naumovic; Step-daughter, Evie (Jerry) Balder; Step-daughter Tina (Paul) Hall; Step-Daughter Gale (Bill) Paez; Step-Son, George (Linda) Alexander.
Velma was born on October 25th, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama to Johnie and Mary Lou Campbell. Velma was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. Velma loved to cook and bake all kinds of delicious food. Her family loved when she made Vegetable Soup, cornbread, fried green tomatoes/squash/okra, beans, and banana bread. When Velma wasn’t cooking her own meals, she and her husband loved to sit and have a meal at Cracker Barrel.
Velma was a christian woman who loved to go to church on Sundays. She loved Jesus and did her very best to love everyone else like He did. She was compassionate, caring, patient, loving, and always tried to see the good in people.
Velma will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
