Victor Guthrie, Jr,. passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2025 after a courageous battle with liver cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Guthrie; children, Cynthia (David) Thompson, Ruth (Chris) Ciorianu, and Victor (Traci) Guthrie III; grandchildren, John Thompson, Nick Thompson, Emily (Cioroianu) Trisler, Adam Cioroianu, Daniel Guthrie, Caitlyn Guthrie, and Alex Cioroianu; great grandchildren, Grayson and Sydney Trisler; sisters, Lois McVey, Darlene Sechrest (deceased) and Sandra Cummings; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Victor was born November 20, 1939 in Roselawn IN, moved to Black Oak, and went to Calumet High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was assigned to a radar picket ship along the east coast.
On February 18, 1961, he married Gloria Tetreault and they shared 64 years together raising their family in Crown Point IN, Placerville, Colorado and then returning back to Indiana to spend the last 46 years of their life in Black Oak.
Vic enjoyed hunting and fishing and passed this love on to his son. He enjoyed family gatherings and just being together.
After retiring from Amoco, he turned to swimming at the YMCA and for the next 24 years he went 7 days a week, never missed a day. He also loved his garden and each year waited anxiously for that first tomato.
Vic was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle and will truly be missed by all.
Private services were entrusted to Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road Highland, IN.
