Vincent B. Bedoy, age 86, of Highland, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022. He is survived by his children; Elizabeth (Adel) Al-Akel, Jennifer (Steve)Borkowski, Allison (Thomas)Geiger, and Vincent J.J. Bedoy. Eleven grandchildren; Jessica, George, Sarah, Jordan, Jeromy, Joshua, Paige, Zachary, Mychaela, Selena, and Sam. Four great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Aleksandar, Sophia, and Carlos. Many nieces and nephews, and his caregiver/fiancé, Yolanda Cordero. He is preceded in death by his Loving Wife, Nelle Bedoy of 54 years, Son, Timothy Bedoy, parents, Jose Jesus and Luz Bedoy, and siblings, Alfred Avina, Rudy Avina, and Sally Campos Carey.
Vincent graduated from Bishop Noll Institute, Class of 1955, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked for Inland Steel for 43 years as an Electrician and Rigger. He served as a Union Steward for the Local 1010 for many years. He was a good provider to his family and had a great work ethic. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially holidays, birthdays and family dinners and he loved Nelle’s cooking...she could cook anything magnificently! Our Dad loved road trips, visiting family and just vacationing to new places. We traveled all over the states. He liked to get in the car and just drive! He was “Mr. Twinkle Toes”...A Big Guy like that could dance...how he enjoyed dancing. He could fix anything. He once said “if you have the right tools ... you could fix anything, otherwise improvise”. Dad was definitely a sports fan. He could watch sports all day! He enjoyed basketball and football, especially the “Packers”. He enjoyed bantering about whose team would win the games and wager fun little bets with his children and grandchildren. He was a basketball coach at Bishop Noll and Our Lady of Grace many years ago. He enjoyed meeting family and friends for breakfast and dinners and trying new restaurants.
Thank you Yolanda for helping to take care of our dad, especially during the last three years when it became more difficult. Thank you to the special nurses and doctors at St. Catherine’s ICU for caring for our dad at the end. He was such an independent person. God loves us unconditionally. He will be dearly missed. We love you.
