Virginia "Ginny" Howard Obituary

Virginia (Ginny) Ann Howard (née Cope), age 60, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois, surrounded by her daughters and family who loved her.

Ginny was born in Chicago, Illinois to Joan Marie Hunt (née Socher) and Robert Cope, and was lovingly raised by John Hunt. She was known for her caring nature, sense of humor, and her beautiful smile that brightened the lives of those around her. She loved traveling and especially enjoyed spending time at the beach and in the sun.

She is survived by her daughters, Shannon Marie Waitekus and Brandy Lynn Waitekus-Rhodes. She was a proud grandmother to Leah, Jenna, Liza, and Donovin Margiotta (children of Shannon) and Nevaeh, Triston, Avaree, Saint, and Rowan Rhodes (children of Brandy). She is also survived by her siblings Tina Sigerich, Marion Aumond, Jerry Hunt, and Cheryl Hunt.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Howard; her parents, Joan Hunt and John Hunt; her father, Robert Cope; and her brother, Robert “Bobby” Cope.

She will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, and the love she had for her family.
