Virginia “Virgie” Suchanuk

Virginia (Villa) Suchanuk, 90, of Highland, passed away Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. She is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon (Michael) Stiglitz, grandchildren, Lisa Stiglitz, John Stiglitz, and Joe (Emily) Stiglitz, and great grandchildren, Sophie and Samson; a brother Bob Villa; her daughter-in-law Carmen Suchanuk; sister-in-law Mary Villa; sister-in-law Betty Sudovich; and brother-in-law Raymond (Leilani) Suchanuk; and cousins Gus (Sonny) and Janet Hartoonian, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death (62 years ago) by her husband, Robert Suchanuk; her son, Richard Suchanuk; her sisters, Shirley, Kathleen Gabel, Marylou Comanse, her brothers, Peter Villa and James Villa, and her parents, Peter and Ann Villa.

Virginia grew up in Indiana Harbor. She lived in Marktown most of her adult life before moving to Highland. Virginia retired from Inland Steel/Xerox in the duplicating department.  She also worked for the School Town of Highland in Food Services for a number of years. She was an avid walker and enjoyed playing Bingo, lottery scratch offs tickets, and word search puzzles. She was full of energy, always laughing, and felt it her responsibility to take care of her family. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 6, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN  46322. 
Viewing will also be on Thursday, September 7 from 9:45-10:30a.m. at St. James the Less Church, Highland, IN. Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. with Father Gregory Bim-Merle officiating. Burial will be at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
