Wanda “Diane” Terrell, Nelson, Bailey, age 73, peacefully passed away on her own terms, Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Bailey; children, Desiree Joy Hausenfleck (Karl), Andrew Bailey (Billie Jo), and Jeremy Bailey; grandchildren, Klara Morse (Jared), Justin Hausenfleck, Ryan Bailey, Owen Racich-Bailey, Grace Racich-Bailey and Cheyanne Bailey; great-grandchildren, Nova Hausenfleck, Dakota Hausenfleck, Denton Hausenfleck and Lexi Hausenfleck.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mary Jo Terrell and sister, Gail Land.
Diane was born on November 10th, 1952, in Attalla, Alabama and moved to Hammond, Indiana as a young child. Diane graduated from Hammond Tech Vocational High School in 1971 and started her career as a seamstress for Hammond Draperies for close to 25 to 30 years. Diane also worked has the Office Manager for Orbesen Construction for around 10 years. On July 7th, 1979, she married Bob Bailey and they shared 46 years together and have lived in Calumet Township (Gary) for the same 46 years.
Diane was the best wife, mother and me-maw for all her family! Always the rock for all of us when we needed someone to listen to us, hear us out during heartfelt heartbreak, the giver and care person during the life lessons we all needed. She was the heart and soul of our family and will be forever missed! We will meet again and walk the streets of gold…Come Lead Me Home.
