Warren Ohr Obituary

Warren Ohr, 86, of Highland, IN passed away at home July 4, 2018.  He was born on Nov. 10, 1931, in Calumet City to Emil and Ruth (Warnimont) Ohr.  He is survived by his wife of 32 years Chloe (Gott) Ohr, brother-in-law Jerry Gott, special nephew and godson Jerry (Sandy) Gott and their son Ryan of Crown Point, nieces and nephews Pam (Al) Jancovech of Indianapolis, Brian (Jeanette) Brough of Valparaiso, Tracy (Vonnie) Brough of Miller, Kelly Brough of Crown Point, Janis (Russ) Burden of Valparaiso.  Also survived by special old friends Joe, Tony, Mike M., Tom and the gang at Shady Nook Resort near Hayward, WI and Cathy Jamrose of Schererville and Jerry and Denise of Lansing, as well as several dear cousins.

Warren was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a graduate of Hammond High and Purdue University at Lafayette.  A US Army veteran, he retired from Inland Steel with 31 years of service as Assistant Superintendent at the 76" - 44"  and numbers one and two cold strip mills. He was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Church in Hammond.  Warren knew "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."  According to his wishes services will be private.

Warren was a unique man, a curmudgeon, as his sister would say. He was very active up until a few years ago due to severe arthritis. He was an avid fisherman, golfer (three holes in one), a skier all over the US and even the Alps of Europe. He could repair and fix anything for friends and relatives.   We are all thankful he is now free from pain,  and that he was able to influence many lives. We give a special thanks to our neighbors who have been so kind and helpful through the years: the Baker, Leimbach, Zak, and Mendez families. Warren will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Our Lord's blessings to all.  Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers would be preferred to Trinity Evangelical Church in Hammond in Warren's honor.
