In Loving Memory of William Roman Claesgens, Highland, Indiana
August 2, 1942 – May 22, 2025
William Roman Claesgens, a kind, generous, and beloved man, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love. Born on August 2, 1942, in Minnesota, Bill spent his formative years in East Chicago/Harbor and Highland, Indiana.
He graduated from Highland High School in 1960 and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. On January 7, 1967, he married the love of his life, Glenda Kay. Together they built a life centered around family and friends.
Bill spent 48 wonderful years working at Bell Parts Supply, where he was not just a manager, but also a trusted friend. He had a deep love for the town of Highland, where he coached countless young athletes in softball and formed lifelong bonds. Whether on the field, at work, or with his family, Bill’s humor, generosity, and steady presence made everyone around him feel valued and welcome.
He was also the biggest Chicago Bears fan you’d ever meet — his schedule revolved around the game, and he never gave up on the White Sox. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on his front stoop talking to everyone who passed by.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Glenda; his parents, Lucy and Roman; his brother Joe; sisters Sharon and Shirley; his nephew Buddy, and niece Kathy.
Bill is survived by his sister Pat (Jule) Bell, loving children, Susan, Bill (Marcie), Amy, and Brian; his grandchildren, Hannah, Caitlin, Brodie, and Elizabeth; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Millie Claesgens.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. Bill will be remembered for his unwavering love, his sense of humor, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM (CST) at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 where friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for Bill’s life.
