William E. Crook, Sr., 88, of Griffith, IN, passed away surrounded by loved ones on June 15, 2026.
Bill was born on December 26, 1937 to Thomas and Martha Crook in Hammond, Indiana.
An avid hunter and fisherman, after retiring from many years of service at Ford Motor Company, Bill spent his time pursuing his lifelong love of hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sharing his entertaining stories with his friends and family, whom he treasured deeply. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith (Ballard) Crook, mother, Martha (Ramsey) Wright, his father, Thomas Crook, and stepmother, Gladys Crook, his brother Marvin (Delores) Crook and sisters Delores (Evan) Lewis, Marie (Robert) Siedentoph, and Rita (James) Ballard. He is survived by his three children, Diane (James) Westbrooks, Patricia Austgen, and William (Doreen) Crook, Jr.; four grandchildren Amy (Donald) Wilcox, Lisa (William) Hoffman, Amanda (Nathan) Vaughan, and Amber (Adam) Owenmore, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brother Jim Crook, sister-in-law Susan (Donald) Jones, loving niece Debbie (Eric) Williams, who spent much time helping to provide care for him, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 8:00 am to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Highland, IN, 46322 with services following directly after. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Crown Point.
