Yolanda "Yoli" Vera Hernandez

Yolanda "Yoli" Vera Hernandez, age 74 of Gary, IN passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on September 26, 2025.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Lydia (Garcia) Vera, and Brother, Manuel (Leticia) Vera Jr.

Yoli is survived by her loving son, Sunny (Mary) Hernandez, her niece, Ashley Nicole Vera, who she helped raise.

She is also survived by her sisters and brothers: Irma (Pepe) Vedia of Fort Worth, TX, Graciela (Rene) Anaya of Laredo, TX, Ramon (Herminia) Vera of Fort Worth, TX, Alicia (Billy) Gruver of Fort Worth, TX, Rene Vera of Griffith, IN, Rolando Vera of Dallas, TX, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins of the extended Garcia family, which include The Vasquez, Garnett, and Jimenez Families of Indiana.  

Yoli moved to Indiana Harbor, East Chicago in 1968 and lived with her Aunt, Carmen (Luis) Garnett.  She was a Graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1972. Yoli enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family and many friends. She worked for Indiana Legal Services for 32 years as a legal secretary.

Per Yolanda's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services in her memory. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Thank you for respecting her privacy.
